2. Information we collect
We may collect names, contact details, delivery and billing addresses, account details, order history, communications, payment status and transaction references, device and browser information, cookie identifiers, website activity, and information supplied when you contact us. Payment card details are generally processed by the selected payment provider and are not stored by us in full.
3. Why we process information
We process information to create and manage accounts; receive payment; fulfil, deliver and support orders; prevent fraud; communicate transactional updates; respond to enquiries and complaints; maintain records; improve the website; comply with tax, accounting, consumer and other legal duties; establish or defend legal claims; and send marketing where consent or another lawful basis permits it.
4. Mandatory information and consequences
Information needed for payment, identity, contact and delivery is mandatory when placing an order. If it is not provided accurately, we may be unable to accept, deliver or support the order. Optional marketing consent may be refused without preventing a purchase.
5. Sharing and operators
We share only what is reasonably necessary with service providers such as WooCommerce and website plugins, hosting and security providers, payment providers, banks, courier and fulfilment providers, email services, accountants and professional advisers. We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect legitimate rights. Service providers act under their own legal duties and/or as operators processing information for us.
6. Cross-border processing
Some technology, cloud, analytics, email or payment providers may process information outside South Africa. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to use providers and safeguards consistent with POPIA’s cross-border requirements.
7. Retention
We keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose collected and for applicable accounting, tax, consumer-protection, fraud-prevention and legal-record periods. Information is then securely deleted, destroyed or de-identified where reasonably practicable.
8. Security and incidents
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including access controls, website security, software updates and reputable service providers. No internet system is risk-free. If a security compromise creates a notification duty, we will notify the Information Regulator and affected data subjects as required by law.
9. Your POPIA rights
Subject to POPIA, you may request access to personal information, ask for correction or deletion of inaccurate or unlawfully retained information, object to certain processing, withdraw consent, request information about recipients, and complain to the Information Regulator. We may need to verify identity before acting on a request.
10. Direct marketing
We will not send electronic direct marketing unless permitted by law. You may opt out at any time using the unsubscribe method provided or by contacting us. Transactional order and service messages are not marketing and may still be sent where necessary.
11. Cookies
Cookies are small files stored by a browser. We may use strictly necessary cookies for security, carts, checkout, accounts and preferences; functional cookies for enhanced features; analytics cookies to understand website use; and marketing cookies only where implemented and permitted.
Non-essential cookies should be controlled through the website’s cookie preference tool where available. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser, but disabling necessary cookies may prevent cart, login or checkout functions from working.
12. Complaints and updates
Send privacy requests to sales@blikenbederf.co.za. You may also complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa through its official channels. We may update this policy when processing practices, service providers or the law changes.
